CSEA Site Rep Training Scheduled

Site Reps are the back bone of our organization.  We need at least one and possibly more at each site in our district.
We are a Volunteer Employee association & with out your help we can’t help you. Find out how you can help! Be informed, and have fun!
We are constantly on the lookout for those who can spare some time out of their busy lives to help.
CSEA always trains those they ask to help.

On March 10 th, 2008 from 4:00 – 6:00 we are conducting our first Site Rep Training at the DEC Computer Training room, located in the warehouse building. We will provide a Pizza dinner, exciting training and a lot of fun! Please let Gladys Fetter know you want to attend, at: gfetter@pylusd.org

President’s Update: New Contract Ratified

On Friday, February 2008, we ratified the new contract. The meeting which was held at the boardroom of the ESC building was a great success.

We had a steady stream of participants through out the day with the majority joining the E- board for lunch. We had an especially good turn out from Custodial and Maintenance. The E-board were glad to see and meet so many of them. The Pizza lunch provided was very good and we all had a nice time, filled with lively discussion and camaraderie.

The atmosphere was on the whole cheerful and upbeat despite the concerns for the upcoming year. There was general discussion of the economic situation that faces California and the unit members were encouraged to write the Legislature and the Governor to urge them not to make the harmful cuts to education. I also encourage the Unit Members to go to the school board meetings, and to interface with the public to help us to forestall the Cuts to Education.

After all the Votes were tallied the new contract was ratified by 97% .

Many Thanks to all of you, who could brave the weather and come out to support your Classified Family. I hope to see you all in the coming year and Please continue to check the website as we grow . We are Planning many events in the coming months.

CSEA Chapter 293  Contract vote for 2007/2008 school year

This information is a summary only.  Full contract language will be presented at the ratification meeting on Friday February 22.Meeting will be held at the ESC from 10:00 – 5:00.  Lunch will be provided from 11:00 – 1:00

District’s Last, Best & Final Offer

A three (3) year agreement through June 30, 2010 with reopeners in 2008-09 for wages and benefits (except medical premium contribution percentages) and four other articles at the choice of the Association and four other articles at the choice of the District.  For year 2009-10, reopeners in wages and benefits (except medical premium contribution percentages) and two other articles at the choice of the Association and two other articles at the choice of the District. Adjust salary schedule upward by 2% retroactive to July 1, 2007 and an additional 2% effective April 1, 2008.
Health & welfare:  no increased employee contributions for the 2008 calendar year.
3a.  In 2009, all PPO members will pay 15% of the premium (a reduction for most employees), and have a $5.00 increase per office visit.  All HMO members will pay their 2008 rate plus 10% of any increase in premium.  New employees hired after 1/1/09 will have higher contributions.

State Budget

If there was ever a time to voice our opinion, it is now while the proposal is still in the Legislature. The Governor’s proposal requires a two-third legislative approval. The contact information for the Governor and State legislators is on the bottom portion of this post and the opinion of their constituents does matter.

Tips for an Effective Letter
· Identify yourself early in the letter, include that you are a constituent and that you are writing on behalf of other individuals, if applicable.
 
· Give a reason for your letter and refer to the specific legislation in the first or second paragraph.
